I am so excited to be Guest Designing for the Altenew Mixed Media Blog today.
I decided to create a scrapbook layout and demonstrate how you can use layering stencils to create gorgeous flowers and leaves and use them not just on beautiful cards but also in many other projects.
The inspiration for my layout came from a piece of scrapbook paper I’ve had in my stash for a few years. I wanted to create a floral wreath. In order to town down the background a little, I used Altenew Embossing Paste and a spatula to add paste throught the Woven Stencil in random places. I then put the page aside to dry completely.
While my background was drying, I stencilled and fussy cut lots and lots of flowers and leaves from the Greenwood Flowers Layering Stencils, Rose Mellow Layering Stencils and Hill Blossom Layering Stencils. I used Mixed Media inks for this project. I am really enjoying using these relatively new products from Altenew as they are so juicy, silky and luscious and make ink-blending and colouring a breeze. The colours I have used are all listed in the supplies list below.
Next came the fun part where I spent some time layering up all the flowers and leaves in a circle, adding a black and white photo as a contrast to he rest of the very colourful layout and adding Jet Black and Antique Gold pigment ink splatters to the background for added texture and interest. When I was happy with my design, I added Instant Dimension Foam Tape to each flower and leaf and popped them up for more dimension. I added a triple bow using Gold Metallic Thread behind the title which I cut 3 times from black cardstock, layered and glued them together to give a thicker look and nestled the title and subtitle to the right of the photo. Some Antique Gold Sequins scattered around the layout completed the look.
